Which would you choose, 5,000 social media likes or 5,000 miracles? The obvious answer for every human being is 5,000 miracles. But the world presents a different picture. We live in a world where self-glorification is the norm and immediate gratification is an addiction. We may know the existence of God. We may even go to church every Sunday. Our identity however tells us a very different story.
The reality is we find our identity in things that don’t last. When we pray, we pray for an escape, not His will. When our heart breaks, we pray for another person to heal it, not God. When we lose our savings, we pray for money to come in tomorrow, not spiritual peace and wisdom. When someone trespasses us, we pray for revenge not a heart that forgives and moves on. When we lose someone, we pray for an answer, not His grace. When we lose our attractive reputation, we pray for restoration not a new identity in Him.
We act on every thought that is influenced by the world and not by Him. We are thirsty for affirmation from people and not from His Word. We define ourselves by our life story and not by His saving grace. We seek validation and vindication from the world and not from “His peace that surpasses all understanding” (Philippians 4:7).
The 5,000 miracles only come from one source. They come from our Heavenly Father, our creator. How can we choose 5,000 miracles when our lives are led by the hand of the world? How can we glorify God and see these miracles come to life every day when we’re too busy glorifying ourselves and other idols? Our lifestyle and the choices that we make reflect what we honestly choose…and that is 5,000 social media likes. Disturbing but true.
Let us stop being blind and surrender to the TRUTH, the One who made us and the One who died for us. Choosing 5,000 miracles by losing the life we have chosen to live will open our eyes to the multitude of blessings He has in store for us. Only the TRUTH can set us free, ladies and gentlemen.
